Compensation appears as a balancing dynamic, where the world responds to excess with counter-movement. Excess is measured in one domain and answered in another: the countermovement arrives elsewhere, as psyche’s compensations do — in the dream rather than the argument, in the body rather than the plan. The balancing never concludes: thresholds drift with play, countermovements compound across domains, and the system is never at rest.
